Creative Leadership Conference Follow-Up: From Social Pains to Social Healing
Continuing the collaboration between the School of Conscious Politics’ Spiritual Politics Lab and the Creative Leadership Conference of the Initiatives of Change Switzerland, on September 22nd, 2022, I was holding space, together with my colleague and friend Rodrigo, for an intimate group of inspiring changemakers and creative, conscious leaders during our second follow-up session after the Creative Leadership Conference 2022.
Blending the Creative Leadership / Initiatives of Change methods of Living Library personal storytelling, as well as Quiet Time with the SP Lab methodology and framework of the 7 step model of sacred activism, we created a flow of deep listening to the story of my last year from Oswiecim-Auschwitz through the Balkans and Turkey back to Oswiecim, bearing witness and listening to the lands, stories, trauma and histories of the places and people I met and connected with. We then took some time to process and reflect on how this relates to everyone’s own life using my story as a mirror, and how we can find connections between social pains and a sense of direction and purpose in our life and work paths.
The themes mentioned and addressed in plenary by the participants from the USA, Netherlands, Greece, Namibia, UK and Mexico ranged from a desire to move beyond separation and divisiveness towards creating spaces of healing on our way to an expression of peace and oneness, supported by the tremendous power of deep listening and being a compassionate witness, as well as gathering many people to bring back and develop a ‘real’ democracy where everyone’s creativity and uniqueness can be expressed without being confined to the political system as we currently experience it – all as expressions of sacred activism and conscious, creative, political leadership.
